Or start from a preset. Presets are flat charts, not garment instructions.

Tapestry mode is a flat row chart. It does not choose how to carry unused yarn.

Amigurumi mode is a flat panel or face chart. It has no rounds, increases, limbs or assembly steps.

Stitch counts are exact. Yards assume a worsted stitch scaled to your gauge, plus 15% for tails, in 200-yard balls. That is an estimate, not a shop figure. Enter yards you already have to see a shopping gap.

Odd rows are the right side and are read right to left. Even rows are read left to right. Stitch 1 is the left edge. The preview lists the first rows; the paid PDF lists every row.

Row notes appear after you make a chart.

How it works

  1. Add a photo or a generator preset, then crop if you do not want the whole picture.
  2. Set stitches across, the stitch (single, half double or double), gauge and the maximum number of yarn colours.
  3. Read the preview from the bottom: row 1 is the first row. The table lists each yarn symbol, stitch count and a yard estimate.
  4. Download a free centre-sample PDF, or unlock one project for $2.99 for the full chart, yarn key and row notes for 90 days.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Colour matching and the free preview are built in your browser. A purchased chart is stored privately so the server can make the PDF and restore edits for 90 days. The original photo is never uploaded.

Which yarn colours does it use?

A generic screen palette of 32 yarn colours, labelled Y01 to Y32. They are approximate screen colours, not a shop dye card and not a brand. Compare a skein before you buy a lot of yarn.

What size can the chart be?

From a photo, width is 24 to 120 stitches and height follows the crop. Tapestry stops at 100, the generator at 80, and the flat amigurumi chart at 48. Gauge is 8 to 24 stitches per 10 cm.

What is free, and what is $2.99?

The on-screen preview is free. The free PDF is a watermarked centre sample of at most 40 by 40 stitches, with a sample yarn key and sample row notes. Pay $2.99 once for the full symbol chart, yarn key and every row note, plus edits for 90 days. There is no subscription.

What do the symbols and row notes mean?

Each symbol is one stitch in that yarn. The stitch is single, half double or double crochet. Row 1 is the bottom row. Odd rows are the right side and are read right to left. Even rows are read left to right.

Does it include tapestry or amigurumi instructions?

Tapestry and amigurumi pages make a flat chart from a photo or a preset. They do not include garment shaping or 3D assembly. The amigurumi page is a panel or face chart only.

Can I crop the photo and change colours?

Yes. Drag a rectangle on the picture, or reset the crop. You can set the colour count, turn dithering on, treat white as empty, and paint cells in the grid.
